For the second year in a row, CRA had a nice pursuit start for this year's race. So we were starting with Moonraker and got a great start and began reaching out the channel. We rounded buoy 3 and turned left for the Navy mooring buoy and were stuck inside of a 36.7 and First10R so we gybed inside. We sailed nicely inside although the winds were a little light, before gybing one last time to the Navy mooring buoy, ready to round. We came up just behind Paladin and rounded to starboard to continue on. We tacked back north and started making progress until we came up to a small boat pinching like crazy before we tacked back out. Here we lost some ground to Houn Dawg (going in the preferred direction) but had made some time up on El Sueno and French Bred. We tacked back north and saw how much of a lead Houn Dawg had built on us but continued our way up to buoy 4. We rounded there and finally (after a long battle they had with Tenacious) got rolled by El Sueno on our way to buoy 8. French Bred rooled us shortly thereafter. At this point El Sueno passed Houn Dawg and were trucking to the finish line. As we were round buoy 8, we saw El Sueno heading back to the mark that they had failed to round. From buoy 8, it was a nice reach in decent wind back to the finish line, where we held off a fast approaching El Sueno to salvage 5/16 on the day. A nice finish to a nice day of sailing!
